Honestly, I had no idea what ‘ux’ or ‘product design’ was before college.
I’ve been dancing since 3 years old: from jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet, and pointe to k-pop and hip-hop in college. It’s something I’ll never give up as it feels like an extension of who I am.
Serving as the Co-President (fa ‘23 - sp ‘24) of my dance team LOKO, it was a fulfilling experience being able to lead and foster a welcoming community of people who all are connected for our love to dance.
We’ve performed numerous covers on YouTube, but here are a few of my favorites!
If you are looking for new music, I got you!
Born and raised in the small, white rural town of Ithaca, NY, I often felt out of place as a Korean American — self-conscious about packing "stinky" kimchi fried rice for lunch and not looking like everyone else. But K-pop was the bridge that allowed me to fully embrace my Korean culture, inspiring me to be proud of who I am through the nostalgic melodies that make up my childhood.
Some of my favorite groups are Stray Kids, GOT7, and BOYNEXTDOOR. I am inspired by their creative expression and ability to connect with people across countries and languages through their self-produced and written songs.
I feel the happiest when I dance! :)
But coming in, I knew I had a passion to bridge the lack of compassion in medicine and bring joy into the lives of those who are at their most vulnerable state.
Junior year was the turning point.
Learning about the human-centered design process and the subtle yet powerful impact of design in everyday life, I resonated with the ability to empathize with people and enhance their lives. From mere door handles to beauty marketing ads, every design serves a purpose, rooted in intention and meaning.
I aspire to become an empathetic designer who creates joyful experiences in the entertainment, fashion, or beauty industries.
